Icon – the Glance phone

Let me guess... the world's first quarter-pipe stunt phone?
Not until scientists invent the nanoboard and Rick Moranis's kids show up. The idea behind the Glance phone is that it’s slim enough to fit in your pocket comfortably with a fat top that sticks out to aid easy removal.  Read more...

Motorola Defy+ unveiled

What’s better than a Motorola Defy? A Motorola Defy+ of course. Google has already proved the value of adding a +, and now that it is buying Motorola’s Android business it makes sense to have a device with a + in the title.

Coincidence aside, the tough phone offers a few upgrades internally while keeping the everything-proof, Gorilla-glassed body in its tight form. In that super secure body will live a 1GHz TI OPAM 3620 processor, Android 2.3.4 and a 1700 mAh battery. No specific release date has surfaced, but you should be able to drop one in a cup of tea as soon as September.  Read more...

ViewSonic officially unveils ViewPad 10pro

ViewSonic hasn't done too well in the tablet battle so far, but it's hoping to turn a few heads with its latest tablety treat, the ViewPad 10pro.

In an attempt to compete with the slew of tempting tabs on the market, it has crammed an Android 2.3/Windows dual OS into the ViewPad 10pro's slim 10.1in frame. Arguably, that's the best of both worlds in one device but that all depends how you feel about Windows in tablet form. With your choice of either Windows 7 Professional or Home Premium, the ViewPad could be ideal for knuckling down to work via Windows and hitting up Android to fire up a quick tinker with Apparatus.  Read more...

HP Palm 3 spotted on Orange website

Since our hands-on time with HP's Pre 3 back in February, it's been pretty quiet on the HP phone front – so quiet we were thinking of sending out a search party for the Pre 2's younger brother. Until today, that is. A support page for HP's sliding BlackBerry alternative has appeared on Orange's website, quashing any fears we had about its death.  Read more...

Vodafone's 555 budget phone for Facebook lovers

Who knew Vodafone had its own OS? Today marks the launch of its super-cheap 555 handset, a QWERTY phone complete with optical trackpad, 2MP camera with flash and FM radio, sporting its very own proprietary operating system. Its main party trick is the integrated button for instant access to Facebook. The more eagle-eyed will notice it's taken its design cues from HTC's ChaCha – silver and white body, QWERTY keyboard, dedicated Facebook button etc.  Read more...

Sony PS Vita is faster than expected

The Sony PS Vita – the most exciting handheld since the GameBoy – was rumoured to suffer a RAM downgrade. But after Sony just announced a cheaper PS3, a new budget PSP E-1000 and a dual-perspective 3D display, they kept giving with a Vita bombshell.

The PS Vita will not only feature a full 512MB RAM but also comes with a further 128MB of dedicated video memory – while sticking to the lower-than-expected US$250 price tag announced at E3. Its display can manage 60fps at 640 x 480px, which extends to a blink-and-you'll-miss-it 120fps at the lower 320 x 240px resolution.  Read more...

BlackBerry Curve 9380 photos spotted online

It's all going down at RIM HQ right now. Not content with bestowing five new handsets upon us – including the new Bold 9900 – a couple of leaked shots spotted by those fervent BlackBerry addicts over at CrackBerry suggest the Curve family is about to welcome a new family member.

So far, the only BBs set to pack OS 7 minus the QWERTY keyboard are the Torch 9850 and 9860, but leaked photos of another touch-centric handset, rumoured to be the Curve 9380 have appeared online.  Read more...

Asus Eee Pad Slider release date glimpsed

The Asus Eee Pad Slider is launching in Italy some time in September, likely meaning a similar UK release. September is a busy month for tech, especially with the iPhone 5 landing, so what are Asus offering to tempt us?

Well, it comes with the treat of free cloud storage on Asus WebStorage – for a whole year. On top of that you’ve got 16GB or 32GB storage internally that can be quickly accessed using the 1GHz Tegra 2 and 1GB RAM. Check out the full specs in our CES 2011 story. Expect to pay about £440 for the bigger of the QWERTY-packing options. Also expect to be pleasantly surprised.  Read more...
