Coca-Cola marketer takes reins at Disneyland

HONG KONG - Former Coca-Cola executive Andrew Kam has been appointed managing director of struggling amusement park Disneyland Hong Kong.

Coca-Cola marketer takes reins at Disneyland
Kam was previously deputy general manager and marketing and sales director for Coca-Cola China.

Kam’s marketing experience in China is believed to have been an important factor in his appointment, as the park increasingly looks to the mainland rather than Hong Kong to bring in visitors. It has missed attendance targets for the past two years.

He is the first Hong Konger to hold the managing director position since the park opened to visitors in late 2005; both his predecessors were American.

Disneyland Hong Kong is expected to benefit from a trade deal that will allow Shenzhen residents to bypass visa restrictions on trips to the park.
