Cannes: Asia-Pacific performs well in Outdoor Lions

CANNES - Grey Hong Kong and Y&R Jakarta have each won a gold Lion in the Outdoor category among other big wins for the region.

Cannes: Asia-Pacific performs well in Outdoor Lions

Grey Hong Kong was awarded top marks with a gold Lion for its 'Umbrella bags' campaign developed for The Lotus Charity society. The charity campaign is in aid of increasing awareness and donations for increased access to clean water in Northwest China. Creative directors Keith Lo, Ray Lam and Sonic Choy (all pictured) were all in Cannes to pick up the golden honour.

Another gold Lion went to Y&R Jakarta for its LG Electronics campaign. Chief creative officer for Y&R Asia Marcus Rebeschini was in Cannes to receive the award.

Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Makati City won a silver Lion for its North Face 'Nature products' campaign developed for the Primer Group.

Similarly, DDB DM9 JaymeSyfu Makati City's Mini Cooper 'Rollercoaster' poster for British United Automobiles also scooped a silver Lion.

Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand, China and India pulled in a further six silver Lions. JWT Auckland and Colenso BBDO Auckland won a Lion each for 'Kit Kat Chair' for Nestle and 'The Blob' for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, respectively. 

Ogilvy Singapore also won with 'Flood' for GSK and Grey Jakarta with 'Coral' for Conservation International. Leo Burnett Shanghai's 'Supor Non-Stick Pans' for Supor and Creativeland Asia Mumbai's 'Mango Surprise' for Parle Agro Mumbai completes the list of silver Lion wins for the region.

In other silver campaign wins, DDB Singapore pulled in two silver Lions for campaigns created for Bose's Noise-Cancelling Headphones and Penguin Books' Budget Travel Guide. Creative Juice (TBWA) Bangkok won in the same category for its 3M campaign and PT Perwanal Saatchi & Saatchi Jakarta for promoting a nose hair trimmer for PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia.

Y&R Singapore won a silver Lion for its campaign for Mint Museum of Toys. Further silver campaign Lion nods for Asia-Pacific include wins for Mudra DDB Group Mumbai, JWT Singapore, Grey Group Kuala Lumpur and O&M Bangkok.

A bronze Lion was won by BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines for its Fedex 'Mud' billboard.

Other bronze lions went to JWT Melbourne for 'Invisible' developed for the Australian Childhood Foundation, Leo Burnett Hong Kong for IKEA's 'Trailer', Colenso BBDO Auckland for TVNZ's 'Dogfight', TBWA\Tequila\Digital\Shift Auckland for its 'Go back to Pompeii' work for Visa and 'Tototalk' developed by Dentsu Tokyo for Toto.

Bronze campaigns were awarded to Ogilvy Beijing for Huggies, Y&R Beijing for Land Rover, Dentsu Tokyo for Yoshida Hideo Memorial Foundation, O&M Mumbai for The Economist, George Patterson Y&R Melbourne for Defense Force Recruiment, Ogilvy Kuala Lumpur for GSK, Creativeland Asia Mumbai for Cholayil, Cheil Worldwide Seoul for Nikon and O&M Bangkok for Sakura Products.

Two Grand Prixes were awarded in the Outdoor category, including the Diesel 'Smart' billboard campaign by Anomaly New York and the Andes 'Teletransporter' campaign by Del Campo/Nazca Saachi & Saatchi Buenos Aires.
