The winning duo, copywriter Mike Felix and art director Matt Swinburne represented Leo Burnett, Sydney. They beat 41 other teams, including the second-placed Italy, and third-placed United Arab Emirates.

“We are absolutely blown away to have won the print Young Lions competition – it’s amazing," they said. "Having the chance to come to Cannes was incredible in itself, so to win gold is just unbelievable.”

Competitors in the Young Lions print competition were asked to fulfil a design brief for Pump Aid, Water for Life, an international charitable organisation working to provide sustainable water and sanitation solutions in rural Africa. Teams had just 24 hours to complete the task, using stock artwork from Getty Images, which sponsored the prize.

Andrew Saunders, Vice President, Creative Content at Getty Images, commented: “The Young Lions competition is an exciting event for Getty Images. Throughout our 14 years of partnering with the competition, it has never failed to produce work that both inspires and surprises us."
