While none of the Chinese brands made it into the top 100 in the regional rankings, locally, they did much better. Despite an aggressive push by global brands trying to infiltrate into China, the rankings revealed that their success has been stymied by the preference for local brands.
For instance, Haier is the most popular white goods brand, bucking the regional trend for companies such as LG. Similarly, Baidu is far more relevant for Chinese consumers compared to its global rival Google.
The Top 1000 Asia Pacific Brands report was co-produced by Campaign and research firm, TNS. The China rankings were part of a regional survey of brands that asked which ones consumers most valued across ten key markets in the region. The survey included more than 3,300 respondents.
