APCO Beijing approaches UPS brand communications manager as director

BEIJING - Long-serving UPS brand communications manager Melody Wong has joined APCO Worldwide as corporate communication director in Beijing, replacing Kerry Driver.

Wong (pictured) has 12 years' agency and in-house experience working in public relations, corporate communications and product marketing. In her new role, she will lead a number of accounts for APCO in Beijing in a variety of industries, including education, health care, technology and non-governmental organisations.

As head of the brand in China for UPS, Wong managed a team of eight staff and oversaw the public relations, advertising and customer communication functions for the company. She was also the crisis communications and media counsel for UPS senior executives.

Having spent time in both Shanghai and Beijing, Wong built the UPS brand and team through a series of high-profile strategic and creative activities, including the planning and execution of marketing activities to maximize UPS' sponsorship of the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Before UPS, Wong was the worldwide launch manager for Hewlett-Packard (HP), where she managed worldwide activities for the introduction of HP's Business Printing Global Business Unit (GBU) based in Singapore.

A Singaporean fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, Wong began her career at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide (Singapore).
