GLOBAL - Andrew Rashbass, group chief executive of The Economist, will be moving on this quarter to Thomson Reuters in the newly created post of CEO of news business.

Andrew Rashbass leaves Economist for CEO post at Reuters

Rashbass will continue to be based in London. Stephen J. Adler, president and editor-in-chief of Reuters, will report to Rashbass.

Rashbass has worked with The Economist for 15 years in a number of roles including managing director of Economist.com and publisher of The Economist. He has been group chief executive since 2008.

The newly created role underscores Thomson Reuters' commitment to Reuters news, said David Thomson, chairman of Thomson Reuters. "We are determined that Reuters news should not only fulfill its critical journalistic mission but also its potential in creating long-term value for our customers and shareholders.”

The Economist Group's board is working to appoint a successor for Rashbass and will announce its decision "in due course", said The Economist Group chairman, Rupert Pennant-Rae.
