Adidas appoints Iris for global running duties

LONDON - Sportswear giant adidas has appointed integrated agency Iris to handle strategy, advertising, retail and experiential marketing for its running category globally.

Adidas appoints Iris for global running duties
Iris, which already handles adidas' retail marketing business for its running brands, will seek to grow awareness of the brand’s shoes in the battle with global market leader, Nike.

The global running account will be led out of London, and it is not clear yet how the business will be divided in Asia, where TBWA and Iris share the Adidas account.

Simon Humphries, client services director at Iris London, noted: “adidas is the fastest-growing running brand in the world and it has an awesome range of products in the wings for 2009 and beyond. We believe that great brands and products deserve great communications solutions, so it is a very exciting time for us to be extending our working relationship.”

Iris won the business following a pitch with roster agencies including TBWA and 180 Amsterdam, which remains adidas’ lead creative agency across the sports performance business.
