2016 Spikes Asia Festival opens; award entries hit record

SINGAPORE - More than 1,800 delegates are expected to attend the 2016 edition of the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity over the next three days in Singapore, where a programme of seminars and talks will culiminate with the Spikes Asia Awards Friday evening.

This year's awards drew a record 5,132 entries from 23 countries, with the Healthcare category seeing a 72 percent increase, Design 40 percent growth and Direct 34 percent (see details below).

Judging for most categories takes place today at the Festival as the 98 industry experts serving on the juries convene.

The Innovation jury already confirmed its shortlist of 10 from the 56 entries received. Attendees can experience the Innovation judging, led by Fred Raillard, creative CEO of Fred & Farid, and hear the entrants explain their concepts today at 11:30 on the Discovery Stage.

The other shortlists will be released over the next three mornings, and the winners will be announced onstage on Friday at the MasterCard Theatre at Marina Bay Sands.

Additional awards presented on the night will include the Spikes Asia Agency of the Year, Independent Agency of the Year, Media Agency of the Year, Network of the Year, Spikes Palm Award and the Grand Prix for Good. The Spikes Asia Advertiser of the Year Award will be presented to Mars.
