The contract is expected to last for two years. Agencies that pitched along with the incumbent include OMD and Ikon Communications. The appointment has prompted Mitchell & Partners to withdraw a bid for the media business of Myer, David Jones’ main rival.

David Jones is understood to be looking to put greater focus on digital media, while maintaining its current level of marketing spend.

MediaCom has handled the account for the past decade. The transfer is set to take effect within the next two months.

Representatives from Mitchell & Partners were unavailable for comment on the win.
