Ho's resignation and departure for The Edge was confirmed by Datuk Vincent Lee, executive deputy chairman of The Star

Sources expect that Ho will be joining The Edge at a rank above current editor-in-chief Leslie Lopez.

Ho was with The Edge for nearly 15 years, rising to Editor-In-Chief before leaving in 2010 to join The Star as COO and executive director. During his tenure he helped build The Edge into Malaysia's leading business publication and played a key role in turning around news daily publication, The Sun, by making it a free daily.

Ho's move comes at a time of flux for Malaysia's financial media landscape and for The Edge in particular.

It's understood that a number of reporters at The Edge have tendered their resignations in favour of the new business titles such as Focus Malaysia and KiniBiz.

Campaign Asia-Pacific was unable to verify, at time of publication, who Ho's replacement will be. Next in line for promotion to the role is Datuk Seri Wong Chung Wai, executive director and group chief editor of The Star

Update (21 November 2012): The Star has filed an announcement on Malaysian stock exchange board Bursa confirming Ho's departure on 30 November 2012.

Update (22 November 2012): Ho's role will be managed by Lee and Wong with immediate effect, reported The Star today. Calvin Kan, group business director will add the role of COO of Print Business to his portfolio and Wong Siah Ping, COO of Digital Business will take on the added role of commercial publications business division.

A press release released by The Edge today confirmed that Ho will be joining the The Edge Media Group as group CEO and publisher placing him in charge of both The Edge Malaysia and newly launched general news site, FZ.com
