Polun Ip joins Fractalist as SVP of sales and marketing

BEIJING - Polun Ip, former managing director, North China of Optimedia, has joined Chinese mobile marketing company Fractalist as its senior vice president of sales and marketing. He came on board yesterday.

Ip (pictured), reports to Chris Chen, CEO of Fractalist, a company which was established in 2003 with the key business scope of mobile marketing (including customer relationship management).

The company boasts a number of advertising partners, including Mercedes-Benz, Nokia, Chanel, and Intel.

Mobile advertising adspend in China in 2010 was worth US$300 million with a 50-80 per cent organic growth per year. There are currently 964 million mobile users in China, out of which 110 million are 3G users,  while mobile internet users amount to 394 million, according to the China Internet Network Information Centre.

Ip says that as clients are becoming most sophisticated, one of his key responsibilities will be to help them to enhance the effectiveness of their advertising with the increasing importance of mobile marketing.

A Hong Konger with 23 years of advertising industry experience , including 15 years based in the mainland China market, Ip has served with agencies like The Ball Partnership, DDB & Bates in Hong Kong, as well as DDB  and OMD in Shanghai).

As a founder of Optimedia North China operation in 2002, Ip led the team successfully to win a number of blue chip clients in mainland China.
