Meitu buys stake in Hong Kong-based PressLogic

Chinese selfie-app developer Meitu has bought a minority stake in PressLogic, a Hong Kong-based media company that specialises in native advertising.

The news was reported by South China Morning Post, and Stephen Shiu Jr, a shareholder of PressLogic, confirmed Meitu's investment.

PressLogic claims its proprietary AI system, MediaLens, helps brands identify target audiences and build media channels. The company's lifestyle-based content is available on several platforms including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube,  while its "PressLogic-Girls" Facebook page has more than 1 million followers. Adidas, Clinique and MAC are among the clients listed on the company's website.

Meitu's content has appeaered regularly on PressLogic sites prior to news of the investment.

A beauty-enhancement feature on Meitu's self-named app is popular among its large female audience base. The Xiamen-based company, which was listed in Hong Kong last year, also launched several series of limited edition phone models that were sold with selfie sticks.
