Ad Nut: Airbnb's blissful globe-hopping, and more of the week's ads

Ad Nut brings you good and bad ads from all over. This week, work for Airbnb, Shell, BT, Glenfiddich, Toyota, and many more.

Ad Nut gathers ads from anywhere in the world and presents them here for your viewing pleasure. Because Ad Nut loves you.

ABOVE: Airbnb and TBWA are working hard to belay the fears and overcome the objections of potential customers. The effort started with the miniature world the company built a few months back and continues with 'Never a stranger', by TBWA/Chiat/Day (via Campaign US). The film makes the whole experience seem a little too perfect, in Ad Nut's opinion. The accompanying website is also a bit too polished and populated with perfectly charming homeowners/hosts. Personally, Ad Nut thinks the Yearbnb Tumblr (by BBDO China's Kevin Lynch) makes a better ad for the service; it shows a more realistic view of Lynch's experiences staying in Airbnb places all over Hong Kong for well over a year (97 stays and counting).

Ad Nut loves these tiny billboards for the upcoming superhero film Ant Man, which are just Ad Nut's size. They showed up in Sydney and Melbourne, according to Mashable, which has more pics. (Image below from Reddit user CAMUSFEARNA.)

'Pat down' for EasyJet by VCCP (via Campaign UK).

'Fueled by bullsh*t', by Droga5 for Toyota (via Campaign US). Cars are the mortal enemy of Ad Nut and all squirrels, but a car that spews out nothing but water? Even I could support that.

'The Maverick Whisky Makers of Dufftown' for Glenfiddich by Leagas Delaney (via Campaign UK). Ad Nut usually deducts points for the clichéd Group Walking Toward the Camera in Slow Motion shot (a la The Right Stuff), but this is fun enough to excuse it.

'Behind the scenes' for BT by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, starring Ewan McGregor (via Campaign UK)

'Sorry' for Smart by BBDO Paris (via Campaign US).

'Stay ahead' for Shell by J Walter Thompson (via Campaign UK). Great SFX, but why does the monster start out as bits of metallic junk only to turn into gooey engine gunk? Ad Nut is confused.

A teen makes a shocking confession in this spot for Trebor (mints) by Wieden & Kennedy London (via Campaign UK).

And now for Ad Nut's stinker of the week. A turtle skateboards on behalf of Virgin Money in this ad by M/SIX (via Campaign US). Yep, that was the whole concept, apparently. It doesn't make much of a point beyond 'Virgin Money is rad, dude!'. Maybe tell us what Virgin Money is first?

That's all for now. Ad Nut will be back next week with more chestnuts. Please check out The Work section for Asia-specific ads, and follow Campaign Asia-Pacific on Facebook and Twitter (@CampaignAsia) to see more good stuff throughout the week.
