Fart bubbles and a space llama: Wotif's animated travel adventure

AUSTRALIA - Australian travel site Wotif, through M&C Saatchi, has created a two-minute TVC that eschews category conventions in favour of a somewhat twisted take on holiday planning.

Combining live action and animation in Monty Python-esque fashion, ‘Wonderful Wotifia’ shows two dudebros who float through a series of surreal scenes meant to promote the brand’s promise of “the world on holidays”. The two gawk at a 50-foot, bikini-clad woman, cavort in a landscape of dim sum, have a skiing mishap, get scared by sharks while scuba diving and ride in a kangaroo pouch, among other vignettes.

Rocky Morton directed the spot for production company World Wide Mind, with animation shop Sixty40 and post house Heckler also taking part. The shoot involved more than 70 setups over a four-day period.

In a press release, Morton praised the client for its bravery in allowing elements such as the fart bubbles to exist.
