The acquisition gives DAN a creative footing in New Zealand

The New Zealand agency will become the flagship brand of Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) New Zealand, according to a statement from Dentsu. It has a staff of 31 and covers a range of disciplines including creative, digital, design, direct and media.

The founders, Daniel Barnes and Paul Catmur, will continue to lead as chief executive and ECD respectively.

BC&F ranks as the most effective independent agency in Asia-Pacific on the Effies Index.

In the statement, DAN’s Asia-Pacific chief executive Nick Waters said the move will provide clients with “a high quality creative capability for the first time in the [New Zealand] market”.

Rob Harvey, New Zealand chief executive for DAN, added that BC&F “share many of our values” and that DAN had no intention to change the agency.

The move follows DAN’s acquisition last year of BWM Group in Australia.
