Wright, who has been with Dow Jones since 2010, takes up the his new position in August and will oversee the publisher's businesses and expansion across the region. The company contends that he will play an integral role in an upcoming launch of an expanded Wall Street Journal in Asia. Under his remit is also a greater focus on digital adoption and subscription growth.
Beore his move to Asia, Wright most recently served as an SVP and group publisher in the UK. He will continue to oversee financial news, commercial partnerships and the soon-to-launch WSJ Pro. An internal company memo says he will begin spending time with the team in Hong Kong in July as he prepares to relocate from London.
Mark Pope leaves his role as Asia-Pacific managing director of Dow Jones and publisher of The Wall Street Journal Asia. Pope has held several leadership roles within the company in New York and London prior to working in Hong Kong and will move to Tink Labs as the startup's chief commercial officer. The Hong Kong company's flagship product, handy, is a mobile solution for hotels combining the functionality of an in-room phone, personal smartphone and city guide in one.
