Originally from Malaysia, Sim has spent the past 10 years in China. He will replace Michael Constantine, who has served as president and chief executive on a short-term contract since 2013. Constantine will depart in mid-August.

While Sim has worked in a creative capacity at Ogilvy, he has also held various business management roles. These include chief operating officer of OgilvyAction China, which he helped establish; managing partner of Bates141 China; and chief executive of Draft Malaysia.

According to McCann Worldgroup, among other duties, Sim will be responsible for “deepening the agency’s integrated digital capabilities and elevating the creative product” alongside chief creative officer Richard Irvine.

Charles Cadell, president of McCann Worldgroup Asia-Pacific, described Sim as “business smart and a deep creative thinker”. He thanked Constantine for his “commitment, passion and contribution to the success of our Malaysian operation”.

Constantine helped strengthen the agency during a period of transition, following the departures of the three veteran heads of McCann, and brought in major new business such as Petronas, which is now split between McCann and Leo Burnett.
