SINGAPORE - Miguel Bernas, SingTel’s director of digital marketing, is leaving his position after three years at the telco, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Campaign Asia-Pacific has confirmed that Bernas is currently serving his notice period. Sources declined to comment on his next move.

“We respect the privacy of our staff and do not share details on employee matters with external parties,” a SingTel spokesperson said.

Late last year, as many as three marketing executives left the company. These included digital marketing manager Lydia Ng, brand director Lovey Chin and digital campaign manager Leya Teo.

Bernas has consistently talked about the use of social media to create strong connections with consumers. SingTel teamed up with Twitter and used conversations on the social network to resolve consumer problems. Last year, it even tried its hand at viral marketing when it invited tweets from consumers by asking them about situations in which high-speed 4G connections would be most helpful. The company partnered with comedian Hossan Leong and turned the best suggestions into improvised comedy skits that it published on YouTube and promoted on Twitter.

Bernas has previously held senior marketing roles at Wego.com, Nokia, Yahoo, Virgin Mobile, CNBC and MTV Networks Asia.
