MediaCom Hong Kong announces key hires

MediaCom Hong Kong today announced two key hires that will be instrumental in strengthening the digital capability in market and will ensure that connected content fuels business success for clients both locally and in the region.

Alice Chow has been named Managing Director of MediaCom Hong Kong; taking over from Cecilia Chan. Alice joins MediaCom from OMD where she was General Manager since 2011. Her strategic thinking and passion for creativity were instrumental in the winning of clients such as Warner Bros and Sony Electronics and Alice successfully developed a structure for OMD Hong Kong that ensured increased retention of both clients and staff.

Commenting on the appointment, Melanie Lo, CEO GroupM Hong Kong, said: ““Alice has a strong proven track record working with clients, and has demonstrated herself as a very strong team leader. Alice’s experience and passion for creativity will ensure that MediaCom continues to drive fresh approaches to meet the ever evolving communication challenges that our clients face”.

On her new position Alice commented, “I’m incredibly excited to take up my new role as Managing Director of MediaCom Hong Kong. What first struck me about MediaCom was their approach to client business. Their focus on content and connections highlights the importance of creating a communications system for clients rather than allowing work to sit in silos. I believe this approach really sets MediaCom apart from its competitors; it’s a great time for MediaCom and I am very much looking forward to being a part of it”.

Complementing the hire of Alice Chow, MediaCom also welcomes Adrian Lee as Head of Digital for Hong Kong. Adrian, who previously led the digital team at MediaCom Indonesia, and worked for MediaCom UK prior to that, will be charged with raising the profile of MediaCom Hong Kong’s digital business as well as increasing resource and additional expertise to cope with clients’ changing requirements.

Discussing his new position and the role of digital within the Hong Kong market Adrian said, “With the vast breadth of digital opportunities available to advertisers, I believe my experience to date has prepared me well to best advise our clients on how these opportunities can deliver against specific business needs.  Through facilitating the right partnerships and in particular implementing digital best practice towards measurement, this market can further realize its potential for advertisers, especially as tech-prowess among the average consumer is so high in Hong Kong. This combination means we can more effectively demonstrate business gains quickly and creatively”.

Speaking about these new hires MediaCom Asia Pacific CEO, Mark Heap, commented: “Hong Kong is an important market for both MediaCom and our clients in the region. The appointment of Alice and Adrian, both high caliber practioners, is a statement of our intent and ambition in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific more broadly.
