Sandberg was the vice president of Waggener Edstrom's business development and marketing function for the APAC region and has been with the PR agency for nearly four years.
According to industry sources, Sandberg is "taking a much needed break after years in the agency world".
She originally joined Waggener Edstrom as the APAC director of client development in December 2009. She was subsequently promoted to the VP role in March 2012, when she provided new business research, marketing and design support to offices in China, Hong Kong, India and Singapore.
According to Sandberg, during her tenure she had helped push the agency out of its 'tech-heavy' profile to one that is more diversified. In July 2013, Waggener Edstrom was named APAC Consumer Consultancy of the Year by The Holmes Report as a result, she added.
It is understood that her replacement will be announced in early September.
Prior to Waggener Edstrom, Sandberg headed the corporate practice at Lewis PR and helped to launch Graffiti Communications. She was additionally the strategic acquisition manager of global corporate services at American Express International.
