Ogilvy restructuring sees Blair shift role

HONG KONG - Ogilvy & Mather has appointed Sophie Hoffstetter, formerly regional management partner, as regional president of client growth, in a move that sees Mark Blair shift into a joint WPP-Ogilvy role to concentrate on servicing a key client.

Additionally, OgilvyOne Asia Pacific chief operating officer Jerry Smith is set to assume greater responsibility in an advisory capacity as president of operations and business consulting services in the region.

Paul Heath (pictured), chief executive of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, explained that Hoffstetter’s role would entail an added element to that of president of GBC (Global Brand Community) held by her predecessor Blair, with the focus widening to include all major clients, in particular Asian companies looking to expand internationally, as well as existing multinational clients.

“We want to ensure that all business is handled with the same rigour,” Heath said, adding that Blair would retain a prominent position within the network’s management structure going forward. He declined to comment further on the account Blair would be working on, stating that the client was “sensitive to publicity”.

Heath said that Smith’s promotion was reflective of his contribution of business expertise to engagement with clients. He noted that Smith’s experience running Redworks enabled him to effectively address client needs from both “the front and back end”, and that he would play an important role in integrating services across the group.

Hoffstetter, Smith and Blair will all be based in Hong Kong.

The restructuring follows the recent promotion of David Mayo as regional president of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising.
